This course aims at providing a solid understanding of health and safety issues, technique, legislation and standard. This course exposes the student to the study of workplace health and safety. The student will learn safe work practices in the office, industry and construction as well as how to identify and prevent or correct problems associated with occupational health and safety in these locations and the home. The course is designed to assist the student with the implementation of safe and healthy practices at work.
By the end of the course students should be able to:
1. Explain the function of Occupational & Health Management
2. Analyze Safety and Health Standards in preventing injuries and illnesses to workers
3. Distinguish the various techniques used in preventing injuries and illnesses among workers in different situations.

Human Capital Training and Development mainly focuses on how human capital is managed and improved in an organisation that ensures the organisational objectives are met. This is achieved by effective needs assessment, employee development plans and career management. Evaluation of the training and development effort, learning theories and e-learning. There is the need for training and development of human capital to be properly aligned with organisational objectives, goals and strategies. In this course, the role of training and development beyond training program design, will be examined. Students will be provided with the requisite knowledge and insight into systems creation that motivate employees to share knowledge and learn. The course also provides the student with the necessary background to understand how globalization, new technology, employee retention and growth, attracting and winning talent, changing demographics and diversity of workforce have an impact on training and development practices.
By the end of the course students should be able to:
1. Explain the career management process, and examine contemporary challenges in employee development and career management.
2. Examine the employee training process, and explain its relationship to employee and organizational effectiveness
3. Analyze and apply knowledge in employee training and development to contemporary organisations.
