Students are introduced to ethical reasoning in this course as it relates to the intricate business world in a globalised society. In a plural and diverse society, ethical issues will arise that require frameworks for both internal and external business organisations. These frameworks will be discussed within the course. Business ethics cover behaviour by both employees and employers, behaviour on behalf of a business, and behaviour inside a business. We will look at moral dilemmas that come up at various points and stages of business conduct using ethical framing and ethical theories. Why be ethical?, standards of ethics, stockholder v. stakeholder theory, standpoint theory, workplace bullying and sexual harassment, affirmative action, privacy/data protection, collective responsibility, and environmental responsibility are likely to be some of the discussion topics in this course.
